Children’s book and comic writer.
Danny Pearson is a children’s book and comic writer. He studied art at North Herts college, which led him onto studying art and graphic design at Leeds Metropolitan University. After graduating he quickly found a job with a book publisher and worked his way up to become the Publisher. He has worked on over 1,000 publications and took the leap into writing children’s books. His first book; Beekeeper, was published in 2010. He has since gone on to write over 35 titles for various publishers. His latest, for Collins, is a graphic novel containing zombified chickens, which is aimed at reluctant readers.
He founded the Hitchin Children’s Book Festival back in 2017 and recently gave a lecture about comics at Leeds College of Art. He has written every week for the last five years for the UKs longest running comic, Beano. He has written scripts for many of its characters including Minnie the Minx and Bananaman. He is currently looking after Roger the Dodger, Calamity James and Gnasher & Gnipper. His work has been displayed at the V&A Museum and Somerset House, London, at the Beano: The Art of Breaking the Rules exhibition.
